1914-15 Star: 27663 Pte J.H. Williams, 15/CAN:INF: toned VF.

John Harold Williams was born at Toronto on 1 Jul 1896. He was a draughtsman by trade and was serving in the Active Militia (unit not specified) when he attested for CEF service at Camp Valcartier on 20 Sep 1914 at age 18, becoming an original member of the 15th Bn, CEF [3 Bde, 1st Div]. He was killed in action on 3 Jun 1916 [Battle of Mont Sorrel / Sanctuary Wood] He was one of many who disappeared in the tremendous artillery barrages of that battle.  He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial.
