William McInroy was born on 13 Nov 1889 at Belleview, ON, was single and was a farmer by trade with 1-year previous service in the in 49th Hastings Rifles. He attested on 29 Nov 1915 to the 80th (Eastern Ontario) Bn, CEF at Belleville, ON. He sailed for England on 20 May 1916 aboard the SS Baltic. He was posted to the 38th (Ottawa) Bn, CEF on 6 June 1917 and joined the unit in the field on 14 July 1917. He was killed in action on 27 March 1918, at age 29 and is buried in Aix-Noulette Communcal Cemetery Extension,Pas de Calais, France. He is entitled to Victory Medal. His medals, scroll and Memorial Plaque were sent to his NoK in the 1920s. Sold with extracted copies from his LAC service file and Virtual War Memorial page.
