William Shenton was born at Stoke-on-Trent, England on 22 Jun 1895. He had emigrated to Canada and was employed as a store clerk at Winnipeg when he attested to the 90th (Winnipeg Rifles) Bn, CEF on 28 Dec 1915.
For some reason he remained in England for the duration of the war. Details to be determined from his file. This is probably his only medal. Medals to reinforcement units that were not part of the Cdn Corps are scarce.
