BWM: 1048472 A. Cpl Hart, 242-Can-Inf.  Toned, VF.

Henry George Hart was born at Hastings, England on 2 Jan 1884.  Having immigrated to Canada, living at Edmonton and an employee of the CPR, he attested to the 242nd Forestry Bn, CEF on 6 Sept 1916. He was married with 3 children ad at 32 years.  He sailed with his unit for England on the SS Mauritania from Halifax on 23 Nov 1916.   He disembarked at Liverpool on 30 Nov 1916. He transferred from the 242nd Btn to the Canadian Forestry Corps (CFC) on 7  May 1917.  He was made A/Cpl (paid) on 30 Sept 1918.  He served with the CFC in England until he returned to Canada on 13 Dec 1918.  He was transferred to the CEF Canada on 9 Jan 1919 and taken on strength by 13 District Depot, where he was discharged on general demobilisation on 21 Feb 1919, wef 12 Dec 18 and returned to his family at Strathcona, AB.  Henry Hart died on 2 Jan 1967. 

He served only in England. Thus, this is his only medal.  Medals to reinforced units that were not part of the Cn Corps are scarce.  Sold with a copy of his Attestation Paper from his LAC file and original mailing box and envelope, now a bit tatty, and the official transmittal paper from the Adjutant General, HIs entire digitized file is available on the LAC website.
