BWM 784340 Dvr R. Smith, CFA, lightly toned, VF

Reginald Smith was born 8 Nov 1897 at Hamilton, ON. He was single and lived with his parents at 142 Fernie St. E., Hamilton and worked in a nickel plating works when he attested on 19 Feb 1916 at Dundas, ON to the 129th Bn, CEF shortly after his 18th birthday. He sailed with that unit aboard the SS Olympic on 22 Aug 1916, arriving at Liverpool on 30 Aug.  Stationed at Witley, England, on 20 Oct 1916 he was transferred to 4th DAC (Divisional Ammunition Column CFA), later designated 5th DAC, CFA.  5DAC landed in France on 28 Aug 1917 and Reg Smith served there until the end of the war. 

He returned to England on 11 Ma 1919 and embarked for Canada at Liverpool on 11 Jun 19191 aboard the RMS Scotian. He was discharged on demobilization at 2DD Toronto on 23 June 1919 and received the Class A War Service Badge No. 220541 (not present with his medal).  He was also entitled to the Victory Medal.
